As the mercury climbs, there's nothing more gratifying than a chilled, revitalizing iced coffee to conquer the heat. Iced coffee is undoubtedly a must-have on your summer menu. Today, we will recommend five iced coffee recipes that you can make at home for you, hoping to invigorate and cool you off in this early summer.

Vietnamese iced coffee offers a delightful mix of strong coffee and sweetened condensed milk. The majority of coffee produced in Vietnam originates from the Robusta variety of coffee beans, as opposed to the more widely recognized Arabica. It is said that the distinctive chocolate-like flavor of Vietnamese Robusta coffee beans is roasted in a blend of fish sauce and butter! This iconic Viet coffee drink is a significant part of Vietnamese culture.

To make it at home is very easy.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons (14 grams) coarsely ground coffee (dark roast is preferred, recommended Robusta )

4 ounces of water (1:2 coffee to water)

4 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk (adjust to taste)

Ice cubes

How to Make it:

1. Brew a strong cup of coffee using a Vietnamese phin filter or a French press. Hot water 195º-200º F.

2. While the coffee is brewing, add sweetened condensed milk to a coffee glass cup.

3. Once the coffee is ready, pour it over the sweetened condensed milk.

4. Stir well to ensure the milk is fully mixed with the coffee.

5. Fill a separate iced coffee cup with ice cubes, then pour the coffee and milk mixture over the ice.


Iced Cafe Cubano – Iced Sweetened Cuban Espresso

Cuban culture meets coffee in the Iced Cafe Cubano. Known for its sweet and strong espresso, IcedCafe Cubano is a way of making espresso that has become popular on social media in the last year.

Ingredients:

2 shots of dark espresso

2 teaspoons of granulated sugar(brown sugar is preferable)

Ice cubes

How to Make it:

1. Brew two shots of strong espresso using your preferred method.

2. In a heat-resistant container, add granulated sugar. Pour one shot of hot espresso over the sugar and whisk vigorously until the sugar is fully dissolved, creating a paste-like consistency.

3. Add the second shot of espresso and mix well. Allow the sweetened espresso to cool for a few minutes.

4. Pour it over ice for a quick and satisfying pick-me-up on a hot day.

Additionally, this Iced Cafe Cubano serves as an excellent base for crafting other coffee creations.

Mazagran, believed by historians as the "original iced coffee," originated in Algeria during the 1840s under French colonization.Faced with high temperatures, soldiers would often add ice water or even alcohol to their coffee.Subsequently, when some French soldiers returned to Paris, they ordered "Mazagran" coffee in cafes–a mix of iced and lemon coffee. The refreshing flavor quickly gained popularity andwas also highly favored in Portugal, Austria, Spain, and beyond.

“It was served with ice and lemon in tall glasses, and became known as Café Mazagran.”

Ingredients:

8 ounces fresh-brewed coffee or diluted espresso (Dark roast is the best choice for this drink)

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 teaspoon of sugar or honey

Ice cubes

Slice of lemon

How to Make it:

1. Brew coffee using whatever method you prefer. If you’re using espresso, dilute a double shot.

2. Add the sugar or honey to the coffee, then cool it for a few minutes.

3. Take out your playful and practical glass coffee mug and fill it with ice cubes.

4. Squeeze in fresh lemon juice, start with 2 tbsp. (Adjust to your taste)

5. Pour the cooled coffee into the glass cup and garnish it with a slice of lemon if you like.

New Orleans Iced Coffee is a cultural gem that originated in the vibrant city of New Orleans. This cold coffee variation pays homage to the city's rich coffee culture, blending influences from French and Spanish traditions. The unique feature of this coffee is the use of chicory, a roasted root. It adds a distinctive and slightly bitter flavor, setting it apart from traditional iced coffees.

Here is an easy homemade recipe:

Ingredients:

1 cup coarsely ground coffee (preferably a dark roast)

1 tablespoon ground chicory

4 cups cold water                 

Sugar or 1/2 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk

1/4 cup milk or cream

Ice cubes

Ground cinnamon or nutmeg for garnish (optional)

How to Make it:

Cold Brew:

1. In a large jar or pitcher, combine the coarsely ground coffee, ground chicory, and cold water.

2. Stir well to ensure the grounds are fully saturated.

3. Cover the jar or pitcher and refrigerate for at least 12 hours, allowing the coffee to steep and create a strong cold brew.

4. After steeping, strain the cold brew using a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove the coffee grounds.

Iced Coffee

1. Sweeten the cold brew with sugar or condensed milk, adjusting to your taste preference.

2. Fill a glass with ice cubes.Pour the sweetened cold brew over the ice.

3. Add 1/4 cup milk to your liking, stirring gently.

Optional: Sprinkle a dash of ground cinnamon or nutmeg on top for added flavor.


Classic Ice Cream Coffee – German Eiskaffee

Summer is incomplete without ice cream! Made with coffee and vanilla ice cream, this is a classic German summer beverage! It is said that the inspiration for this German coffee drink may have originated from the Italian dessert "Affogato al Caffè," as many coffee shops and ice cream parlors in Germany in the latter half of the 20th century were run by Italian immigrants. Today, this popular ice cream coffee has many innovative variations but has always held a special place in summer beverages.

Ingredients:

2 cups cold brew coffee, or brewed coffee (chilled)

2-3 scoops vanilla ice cream

Whipped cream

chocolate shavings or cocoa powder(optional)

How to Make it:

1. Brew 2 cups of strong coffee using your preferred method.Allow the coffee to cool to room temperature or refrigerate for a chilled base. (can add some ice cubes)

2. Scoop a generous portion of vanilla ice cream into your decorative wine goblet or tall clear drinking glass.

3. Pour the cooled coffee into the glass cup and fill the glass 3/4 full.

4. Top with a dollop of whipped cream.

5. Garnish with chocolate shavings or a sprinkle of cocoa powder. (Optional)
