Ladies! Barbie Pink Fever!
Recently, there's been a noticeable increase in the amount of "pink" in the social scene lately. The reason is obvious - Barbie! The recent release of the live-action "Barbie" movie has taken over social media with its surreal and comedic Barbie Land, the high-heeled shoe-shaped feet, the unique "Kenergy" of High Commander, and the discussions on gender issues in the film, creating an unprecedented buzz.
This bright pink colour, so rampant into the July, and continues to the present.
The movie's marketing has left a pink sea everywhere you go: from billboards, buses, and actors' pink outfits to Barbie Dreamhouses on Airbnb in real life.
Quote from Boredpanda
In the past, I used to see pink as young. However, now I find pink increasingly captivating, even carrying an inexplicable enchantment. Its bright and vibrant hue emits a radiant aura of bravery and confidence. Just like the female protagonists in the beloved shows "Legally Blonde" and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," when they don themselves in pink, they radiate grace and charm while fearlessly exhibiting their inner strength.
So today, I had a sudden idea to share some pink drinks with you all. If you're also in need of some Pink Energy lately, why not treat yourself to a glass of pink wine?
Pink Cocktails
How many of you choose drinks based on their "looks"? When I first started drinking, I was the same. Not having found my favorite flavors yet and not being familiar with cocktails, I would often order a drink based on its appearance - and the Pink Lady always had a place in my choices.
Pink Lady
1.5 oz (about 45ml) Gin
1/2 oz (about 15ml) Applejack
3/4 oz (about 20ml) Fresh Lemon Juice
1/4 oz (about 7ml) Grenadine Syrup
1 egg white
Garnish: Brandied cherry
As the name suggests, the cocktail is a romantic pink color with a white, fluffy egg white foam on top. Just like its appearance, it tastes sweet and sour without much impact. The gin, applejack, and grenadine bring refreshing fruity flavors, and it's hard for anyone not to love this sip.
Cosmopolitan
Another pink cocktail I must mention is the Cosmopolitan. How many of us got to know it from watching "Sex and the City"? I still remember the episode where Carrie and her friend Stanford went to the hottest bar in town for a party, and the featured drink at the party was the Cosmopolitan. Since then, the Cosmopolitan became one of Carrie's favorite cocktails. For a long time, it was the go-to drink for girls' night out.
"I'd like a Cheeseburger, please, a large fries and a Cosmopolitan"
Cosmopolitan
1.5 oz (about 45ml) Vodka
3/4 oz (about 20ml) Cointreau
3/4 oz (about 20ml) Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 oz (about 15ml) Cranberry Juice
Garnish: Lime slice
The clean and crisp taste of vodka combined with Cointreau and cranberry juice creates a sweet and sour fruity cocktail, but it has more simplicity and warmth compared to the "modest and shy" Pink Lady. Why not gather with friends for a night out or do a Cosmopolitan by yourself in your home bar? Let this cocktail and post-dinner gossip heal your busy day.
Pink Gin
Finally, let me share a pink-coloured spirit: Pink Gin. The juniper flavor in gin brings a feeling of strolling in the snow. But even in the cold, it cannot hide the pink girly heart of Pink Gin.
Pink Gin originated as a mix of gin and Angostura bitters. In the 19th century, Angostura was commonly used to treat seasickness in the British Navy, but its bitterness made it difficult to consume directly. Gin was added to soften the taste. At the same time, the resulting cocktail had a pale pink colour, adding visual pleasure to the drinking experience.
However, now "Pink Gin" has evolved beyond the original gin + bitters cocktail - it refers to gin with a pink hue. This pink colour can come from various red fruits or vegetables, such as strawberries, raspberries, and grapes, etc., which not only add colour but also fruity flavors to Pink Gin.
The most common is probably the Pink Strawberry Gin. The addition of strawberries balances the juniper and citrus flavors, creating a very modern gin.
Pink Strawberry Gin Tonic
1/3 glass Ice, crushed or cubed
50 milliliter Strawberry flavored Gin, ( 1.7 fl oz )
125 milliliter Strawberry Juice, ( 4.22 fl oz )
2 Fresh Strawberries, sliced
300 milliliter Pink Tonic Water, ( 10 fl z )
Mint and Fresh Strawberries, to garnish
I still enjoy a classic Gin and Tonic the most, a simple combination of gin and tonic water. For Pink Gin and Tonic, mix Pink Gin with tonic water in a 1:3 ratio, and add some fresh fruit for decoration and extra flavor. Gently stir with a bar spoon, and it's ready to enjoy.
As the pink liquid slowly pours into the glass, the heart becomes full and cheerful. Pink and wine, a perfect match. No need to strictly follow a recipe! On this Friday night, you can mix it up as you please!
“The most beautiful thing you can be is yourself.”
Although not everyone can become a leading lady dressed in highly saturated pink in movies and TV shows, but the soft and resilient power conveyed by pink is open to everyone.
If you are also seeking a dose of Pink Energy lately, I hope the drinks I shared today will provide you with some inspiration.
